Cellular Ageing

The cellular ageing sets group compounds studied across telomere biology, mitochondrial function and redox balance. The Cellular Ageing Pair covers two of those pathways, and the Cellular Ageing Set (Extended) widens the range to telomere, mitochondrial, redox and matrix endpoints in one order. Compounds in this area include Epithalon, the Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly tetrapeptide used in telomerase reverse transcriptase expression assays, NAD+, the coenzyme consumed by sirtuin and PARP enzymes, and MOTS-c and SS-31 for mitochondrial respiration and membrane potential work.

Common readouts are oxygen consumption rate, SA-beta-galactosidase staining, and qPCR of TERT and p16 transcripts.
