The reproductive signalling category groups peptides acting at KISS1R, the oxytocin receptor (OXTR), the melanocortin receptors MC1R to MC5R and the LH/CG receptor, most of them read out through Gq-coupled calcium mobilisation or Gs-coupled cAMP accumulation. Kisspeptin is the endogenous KISS1R ligand used in calcium flux and inositol phosphate assays and in GnRH neuronal cell line models. Oxytocin is a cyclic nonapeptide agonist at OXTR, a Gq-coupled receptor, and is also studied for its cross-reactivity at vasopressin V1a receptors. PT-141 is a cyclic melanocortin analogue with MC4R and MC3R activity, Melanotan 1 is a linear alpha-MSH analogue selective for MC1R, and Melanotan 2 is a cyclic analogue active across MC1R, MC3R, MC4R and MC5R; all are used in cAMP accumulation and receptor binding assays in transfected HEK293 and melanocyte lines. HCG is a glycoprotein hormone that binds the LH/CG receptor and is used in cAMP and steroidogenesis assays in Leydig and granulosa cell models.
The alpha-MSH derived tripeptide KPV is listed under the immune signalling category. Compounds in this category are independently tested by Janoshik Analytical for RP-HPLC purity and mass spectrometry identity, with the Certificate of Analysis for tested batches published on the product page. Supplied as laboratory chemicals for in vitro research use only, dispatched from within Australia.
Structure, mechanism, handling and analysis notes for these compounds are in the NuVion peptide research library: PT-141, Kisspeptin, Melanotan 1, Melanotan 2, Oxytocin, HCG and Gonadorelin.
