Concentration comes first. The peptide divided by the water, so a 10 mg vial with 2 ml gives 5 mg per millilitre, which is 5,000 mcg in every millilitre of liquid.
Volume comes next. Your amount divided by that concentration. At 5,000 mcg per millilitre, 500 mcg works out at 0.1 ml. Syringes are marked in units where 100 units is 1 ml, so 0.1 ml is the 10 mark on the barrel.
Supply comes last. The micrograms in the vial divided by your amount gives the number of draws, and those draws spread across the frequency you picked gives the date. Nothing here suggests an amount. It converts the one you supply.
Divide your amount by the concentration to get millilitres, then multiply by 100 to get units. A 10 mg vial mixed with 2 ml holds 5,000 mcg per millilitre, so 500 mcg is 0.1 ml, which is 10 units.
A thousand times. One milligram is 1,000 micrograms, so a 10 mg vial holds 10,000 mcg and an amount of 500 mcg is 0.5 mg. Vials are usually labelled in mg and amounts are usually talked about in mcg, which is where most mistakes come from. The calculator shows both under each field.
The total micrograms in the vial divided by your amount per draw. A 10 mg vial holds 10,000 mcg, so at 500 mcg a draw that is 20 draws. The water you add does not change this number, only the volume each draw takes up.
Because the solution is concentrated. Anything under about 2 units is difficult to measure accurately on a standard syringe. Reconstituting the next vial with more bacteriostatic water spreads the same peptide across more liquid and moves the reading further along the barrel.
A unit is 0.01 ml on the U-100 scale, which is what almost every insulin syringe sold in Australia uses. The 0.3 ml, 0.5 ml and 1 ml syringes all share that scale, so 10 units is 0.1 ml on any of them. They differ in how much they hold, not in what a unit means.
Draws per vial divided by how often you use it. Twenty draws at three a week is a little under seven weeks. The calculator gives you the approximate date, which is the point to order from rather than the point to run out.
