Bacteriostatic water for reconstituting lyophilised peptides, proteins and other bioactive molecules, preserved with benzyl alcohol.
The benzyl alcohol suppresses microbial growth, which is what allows a vial to be sampled more than once. It does not preserve the chemical stability of a dissolved compound and does not make a solution sterile; storage conditions after reconstitution still follow the product documentation. Benzyl alcohol is not inert in every assay, so compatibility should be confirmed for the compound and readout in use.
